Hope Academy, Newton le Willows
Hope Academy, Newton le Willows is a new joint-faith Academy for 1350 young people aged 11-16 and a further 300 post-16 students. It will be formed from the closure of the two existing schools in the Newton Area, Newton Community High School and St. Aelred’s Catholic Technology Campus.
The Academy sponsors are the Diocese of Liverpool, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Hope University, who are working in partnership with St Helens Council to deliver the project. The Academy will open its new building in September 2011.
In March 2009 Willmott-Dixon Construction Limited, and their designers Robinson Architects, were appointed as preferred bidder for the £30M project.Construction work began in in 2009 on the site of Newton Community High School, whisch will continue to be shared with Selwyn Jones Sports Centre. The Academy will open its new buildings in September 2011.
Education
The education vision for Hope Academy is based upon the three interrelated areas of faith, sustainability (which will be the specialism of the new Academy) and learning.
